Panguil Bay Bridge Soon to Start Construction

The Build-Build-Build program of President Rodrigo Duterte continues with the construction of the ₱7.3-billion Panguil Bay Bridge in Northern Mindanao set to start this January 21, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

CWS Party-list Rep. Romeo Momo Sr., who sponsored DPWH’s proposed budget for 2021, said the project can start when the design of the bridge is finished this December. “Once completed the detailed engineering design of this project, the actual construction will immediately start," he said. "Therefore, this (design) will be completed in December, the actual construction work will start in the month of January 2021 and can be finished in three years.”

The bridge connects Tangub City in Misamis Occidental and the town of Tubod in Lanao del Norte, and is expected to reduce travel time from almost 3 hours to approximately 7 minutes. Korean joint venture contractor Namkwang-Kukdong-Gumgwang undertakes the project.

Once finished, the bridge surpasses the San Juanico Bridge as the longest in the Philippines.
