Issue 2
As we come to another midyear season, your Philippine Resources Journal is ready to give you a recap of the six months just past and an outlook of what's in store for the rest of the year with our Issue 2 2025, now available here on our website and in print at your nearest resources industry event.
The biggest news for local miners, builders, and industry executives, of course, is President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. naming Raphael Lotilla as the new Environment Secretary vice Toni Yulo-Loyzaga, as part of a mild Cabinet revamp following the May 12 midterm elections. Lotilla, in a way, is no stranger to the resources industry, having served as Energy Secretary to Marcos over the last three years. The rest of what he plans to do at the DENR is detailed in our ace reporter Marcelle Villegas' story on page 66.
Meanwhile, our esteemed columnists, lawyers Ronnie Penarroyo and Trisha Bunye, both touch on the effects of geopolitics on the resources industry, which became a greater concern in the light of US President Donald Trump's tariffs wars and the real wars waged by Russia on Ukraine and Israel on Iran.
Finally, on our cover we present the story of Higantis, one of our esteemed partners, who share their tips on how resource companies can help manage OTR (off-the-road) tire damage - a potentially costly problem for any firm to avoid.
These and more stories and commentaries are in the pages of PRJ Issue 2 2025, so dive in today!
