Issue 1

In this issue of Philippine Resources Journal, we lead off as usual with our columnist Atty. Fernando Penarroyo, who starts with a hopeful tone for 2021 amid the protracted coronavirus pandemic and expresses his wish for a better year for all of us.

With March being International Women's Month, our own Wonder Woman, Atty. Patricia A. O. Bunye, looks back at her participation in the Global Women in Mining Summit. She then devotes the second half of her column to a recent forum on the Wawa Weir 2 Project, which would provide 500,000 households in Metro Manila with more potable water.

Still on women, our ace writer Marcelle P. Villegas winds up her interview with New Zealand-based Filipino geophysicist Jenny Anne Barretto, who led a team that discovered the world's largest caldera, the Apolaki Caldera located in Benham Rise within Philippine waters. Marcelle also chronicles the events that led to the tragic landslide at the Carmen Copper mine site in Toledo, Cebu last December, as well as the aftermath of the incident.

The issue also carries the latest news and updates from our partners such as RDCL, Weir, Sandvik, and others. This and other big mining, construction, and industry news are inside Issue 1 2021 of your Philippine Resources Journal.
