Issue 1

“Longevity” is one word that can describe Issue 1 2026 of your Philippine Resources Journal in a nutshell, as our main articles in this magazine focus on how companies in the mining, construction, and allied industries can be set up for the long run.

Our cover story zooms in on Paramina International, a proudly homegrown company that marks its 30th year this year. In embodying three decades of engineering excellence and mining innovation, Paramina shows us that Filipinos can competently fill a gap for a responsive, grounded partner of mining firms looking for reliable, high-quality services.

Another story hails a group that, pun intended, is seemingly as old as the earth itself. The Geological Society of the Philippines (GSP) celebrated its 80th year recently by honoring leaders in geoscience, geology, and technology-driven solutions. Our ace journalist Marcelle Villegas has the rest of the details on this milestone event on page 32 onward.

Meanwhile, our mainstays also deliver on the theme with their pieces in our pages. Atty. Fernando “Ronnie” Penarroyo’s piece entitled “Shaping the Philippines’ Resources Future” breaks down how critical minerals, petroleum exploration, renewable and nuclear energy, hydrogen, and even artificial intelligence, data privacy and digital governance will shape the next decades of the industry. Find his column starting on page 10.

Atty. Patricia A.O. Bunye then sets her sights on the future of women in the industry with her commentary on “Finding One’s Voice: Mentorship and Leadership Lessons for Women in Mining.” As March is Women’s Month globally, Atty. Bunye reflected on how her organization, Diwata, has presented itself as such a platform for women’s empowerment in a traditionally male-dominated industry, helping women reach heights both here and abroad.

These and more stories are jampacked in our 92 pages for this maiden issue of the year, and as usual we thank you, dear reader, for your constant partnership and support.
