Baguio City -- During the 66th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) last November 2019, CTP Construction and Mining Corporation (CTPCMC) was among the winners of the Platinum Achievement Award for Surface Mining operations.

During the prestigious PMIEA or Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Awards Night and Testimonial Dinner which was held on the last day of the ANMSEC, CTPCMC received two Platinum Achievement Award for their surface mining operations in the Barangays of Dahican and Adlay, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur. Early last year, CTPCMC was also awarded as the Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan (GKK) Champion for the Caraga region. The award was given by the Philippine Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for CTPCMC’s “commendable achievements of their initiatives benefiting safety and health of their workers and the community.”

For the past years, CTPCMC has been actively participating in the National Greening Program (NGP) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Other than planting endemic and fruit-bearing trees in the rehabilitation sites, they also launched in 2018 their Bamboo Plantation as part of the reforestation program. In 2017, the company initiated the Project Gaia to empower women from Barangay Adlay as they take the lead in reforestation activities such as taking care of the plant nursery, planting, landscaping and maintenance.

CTPCMC has been operating since 2007 and is one of the top 5 nickel mines in the Philippines. A 100% Filipino-owned company, CTPCMC is the second nickel mine in the Philippines that was awarded a triple ISO certifications namely, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS certifications last 2016 and in February 2018. It upgraded to latest versions namely ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System) along with its existing OHSAS 18001:2007. They were assessed and certified by TÜV Rheinland.
