The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central Office, through its Mining Tenements Management Division (MTMD), conducted a three-day Capacity Building Workshop for Mine Management Division (MMD) Chiefs of Regional Offices on May 21–23, 2025, in Privato Hotel, Quezon City.
With the theme “One Vision, One Standard: Rebuilding Institutional Competence in Mining Tenement Management,” the workshop served as a platform to update and strengthen technical and regulatory practices in the evaluation of mining applications, compliance monitoring, and implementation of mining tenement laws and regulations.
The activity officially opened with a message from Engr. Teodorico A. Sandoval,
OIC-Assistant Director of MGB, who emphasized the importance of unified standards and coordinated implementation across MGB offices. Over the course of the workshop, participants engaged in knowledge-sharing sessions, discussions on relevant policies, and collaborative planning for sustained operational consistency.
The interactive sessions provided an opportunity to revisit key procedures, share field experiences, and identify areas for continuous improvement. Central and Regional Offices reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring that mining tenement processes are administered with integrity, transparency, and efficiency.
In his closing message, Engr. Danilo D. Deleña, Chief of MTMD, expressed his appreciation for the active participation of the MMD Chiefs and underscored the importance of institutional collaboration and ongoing capacity development.
The workshop concluded with a unified resolve to support responsible mineral resource development and promote good governance in tenement administration nationwide.
