TVI Resource Development (Phils.) Inc.'s Balabag Gold and Silver Project (TVIRD-BGSP) conducted its 2026 Lakbay Aral educational tour for members of the Multi-Partite Monitoring Team (MMT) and the Mine Rehabilitation Fund Committee (MRFC), providing participants with firsthand exposure to responsible mining practices at Greenstone Resources Corp. (GRC) in Surigao del Norte.
TVIRD-BGSP, a subsidiary of Canadian mining company TVI Pacific Inc., operates the Balabag Gold and Silver Project in Zamboanga del Sur. The project is one of the Philippines' newest producing gold and silver mines and implements environmental monitoring and rehabilitation programs in partnership with regulators, local governments, and host communities.
During the educational visit, participants observed Greenstone Resources' practices in responsible mining, environmental management, mine rehabilitation, and community development. GRC operates the Siana Gold Project in Surigao del Norte and has been advancing mine rehabilitation and sustainability initiatives alongside efforts to redevelop its mining assets.
TVIRD-BGSP said the activity also served as a platform for knowledge sharing, enabling MMT and MRFC members to strengthen their understanding of environmental monitoring, stakeholder participation, and sustainable mining practices.
Participants expressed appreciation to the company for organizing the study tour, saying the experience enhanced their understanding of responsible mining operations and reinforced the importance of collaboration in balancing environmental protection with mineral development.
TVIRD-BGSP said initiatives such as Lakbay Aral 2026 demonstrate its commitment to transparency, capacity building, and meaningful stakeholder engagement by equipping partners with practical knowledge and experience to help promote responsible and sustainable mining development across the industry.
