The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) has officially opened the nomination period for the 2026 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award (PMIEA), marking the full implementation of the revised guidelines and procedures outlined in MGB Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 2025-002, signed on February 18, 2025.
The 2026 PMIEA will be implemented in accordance with the new framework introduced by MC No. 2025-002, following the transitory cycle applied during the 2025 PMIEA. Under this revised system, the PMIEA Selection Committee will continue to recognize outstanding mining, mineral processing, and mineral exploration companies whose initiatives and performance demonstrate excellence that goes beyond regulatory compliance.
The said Presidential Award seeks to honor mining companies that have shown exemplary achievements in environmental protection and ecological preservation, made meaningful contributions to national economic growth, and implemented programs that enhance the quality of life of Filipinos, particularly in mining-affected communities. Emphasis is placed on strong performance in Environmental Management, Safety and Health Management, and Social Development and Management, consistent with the strengthened evaluation standards of the revised PMIEA guidelines.
Through an official Memorandum dated December 18, 2025, all MGB Regional Offices (ROs) are instructed to notify the opening of nominations and invite qualified mining companies within their respective jurisdictions to participate. Only companies that satisfy the minimum eligibility requirements and submit complete and compliant documentary requirements shall be endorsed by the MGB ROs for national-level evaluation.
Endorsed nominations, together with electronic copies of all required entry materials, must be submitted to the MGB Central Office via email at mgbpmiea@gmail.com or through a digital storage device (e.g., flash drive) on or before March 27, 2026.
The 2026 PMIEA continues to serve as a premier platform for recognizing excellence in the minerals industry, reinforcing the government’s commitment to responsible mining, environmental stewardship, workplace safety, and sustainable community development under the enhanced PMIEA framework.
